Recipe to making a simple yet delicious pasta dish:
Ingredients:
8 oz. pasta (spaghetti, linguine, penne, or any other pasta of your choice)
2 tbsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes or until it becomes translucent.
Add the canned diced tomatoes to the skillet, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Let the tomato mixture cook for about 5-7 minutes or until it thickens slightly.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss it together with the tomato mixture until it is well coated.
Add the chopped fresh basil to the skillet and stir it into the pasta.
Remove the skillet from the heat, and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta.
Serve the pasta hot, garnished with more fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
